Raised in Oklahoma and moved to Florida in 2005, now calling Sarasota his home, Dr. Alex Houston, is someone you can trust and rely on to manage your inpatient’s healthcare needs. His friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of Internal Medicine places patients at ease when it comes to their care. Dr. Houston earned his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. After graduating from UCF, he became an emergency medical technician. His experiences as an EMT solidified his interest in becoming a physician; and, in 2016, he obtained his medical degree at Lake Eerie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wellington Regional Medical Center and started “Accountable Inpatient Medicine” alongside Dr. Gaby Coatti shortly after the completion of residency. Per Dr Houston, “I met my wife here, our families are here, I went to medical school here, and I have built so many amazing relationships within the community. Being able to provide care to my friends and family brings me so much joy, and providing an unprecedented service to many of the outpatient specialists in this area is what drives me to be accountable in every way…thus Accountable Inpatient Medicine was born.” Apart from seeing patients, Dr Houston enjoys many adventurous activities. As an avid scuba diver you might find him doing research in underwater cave systems throughout Florida, or backpacking and camping on the trails across the country, or doing water-sports at the beach. He also loves jeeping and traveling with his family.
